Quebec now has 5,518 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of today, an increase of more than 900 cases since yesterday. Out of the 5,518 cases, 365 patients are hospitalized and 96 are in intensive care. The number of COVID-19 related deaths is now of 33.
Montreal now counts 2642 confirmed cases, an increase of 545 since the previous report. François Legault has also just asked the police across the province of Quebec to be less tolerant with people ignoring the measures put in place by the government to stop the spread of the coronavirus. While most people do respect social distancing measures, some still continue to meet in large groups.
According to François Legault, the police have received around 7,000 calls just yesterday about suspected violations of the social distancing rules in public. Fines could go up to $6000 for not respecting the rules in this time of crisis. Now is the time to stay home!
