Created a few years ago, la Fête du croissant is a big celebration of one of the best French "viennoiseries" that exists: the famous butter croissant. During the event, hundreds of bakeries all across town and in Quebec will be offering their delicious, flaky and warm croissants for only a buck. The event is such a success that every year, the pastries fly off the shelves literally like hot cakes. According to the organizers of the events, most bakeries sell out in a matter of hours, even minutes for some!

According to the organizers of the event, "La Fête du Croissant is a time to have fun. To enjoy, to share. To discover talented local artisans and appreciate their craft. It’s a festival that takes place in the hearts of communities, in dozens of locations in the province, large or small, urban or off-the-beaten-path artisans."
Each bakery needs to meet a few criteria's to be eligible as a Fête du croissant participant. The delicious croissants need to: be made by an experienced artisan, made by using both techniques of raising and folding the dough, contain only pure butter, be rolled by hand, and made fresh every morning, raised and baked on site.
