Driving in Montreal isn’t always easy: from endless trafic, to roads in bad conditions, to finding street parking…owning a car isn’t necessarily the best idea if you’re travelling on the island itself. And now, street parking costs are about to increase..argh.

The city has announced that as of April 1st, 2019, street parking meters in the city will be increasing their pricing by 0.25$ per hour in all bouroughs. According to Mayor Plante, there hasn’t been an increase for over a decade, and this increase follows inflation costs. Fair enough…
Depending on where you’re going, you will end up paying from $1.75 per hour to $3.25 per hour (especially if you’re planning on parking downtown). So at the end of the day, is it worth it to drive a car and park it in the street for the day? Or is taking public transportation a better idea? I’ll let you think about that…
