It’s official! Retail stores in the greater Montreal area will reopen a week from today, on May 25th. The news was just confirmed by François Legault during today’s press conference. Daycares will open a week later on June 1st. The reopening does not include stores located inside malls.
Encouraging numbers of COVID-19 cases and deaths contributed to this decision. Only today 34 new deaths were confirmed for the entire province, the lowest number for the past month.
Legault asks the population to continue following social distancing rules, wearing masks and respecting guidelines put in the place by the Government since the beginning of the pandemic.
Are you excited stores will finally be reopening in Montreal? Do you think the government should have waited longer to reopen stores and daycares?
