Quebec now has 1013 confirmed cases of COVID-19, a huge increase over the last two days. Out of the 1013 cases, 67 are currently hospitalized and 30 are in intensive care. Montreal has the most number of confirmed cases with 439.
According to Quebec's official website, the significant jump in numbers is due to an increase of performed tests and the fact that cases tested positive by hospital laboratories are now considered confirmed. They no longer need validation by the Laboratoire de santé publique du Québec (LSPQ). As of yesterday, François Legault also announced all non-essential businesses will be closed until April 13 to help prevent the spread of the virus as much as possible.
According to him, the province will be on "pause" for at least three weeks in this critical phase. He is also reminding everyone that this situation is only temporary. Now more than ever is the time to stay home and respect all social distancing measures put in the place to slow down the spread of the virus.
