A Huge Indian Festival Is Taking Place In Montreal This Summer

Mark your calendars! On Saturday July 6th, the 41stFestival of India is taking place in Montreal and it is going to be more beautiful and tastier than ever.

Starting at noon, the festival will begin with a Chariot parade (Ratha-yatra), cruising down St-Laurent street, from the corner of Milton and all the way to Jeanne-Mance park. You will be able to witness a 40-feet float being pulled by the participants, all while singing and dancing to traditional Indian music.

Once the parade is done, participants and everyone will be invited to take part in a ton of fun activities at Jeanne-Mance park. On site you will find traditional dancing, drama performances, music, magnificent exhibits about ancient Indian culture and heritage, traditional face-painting and henna, awesome yoga and dance workshops, and much much more! You will also be able to discover and taste the flavours of traditional Indian cuisine. Participants will be given a free vegetarian meal. Delish!

According to the organizers, this annual parade and festival bring the splendor and colors of traditional India to Montreal as no other summer event! The festival will be taking place over 2 days, from July 6thto 7thand is FREE for everyone. Check out their official Facebook page here for more info.
