Since Montreal is filled with students and students generally have depressingly low budgets, it makes sense that quite a few bars in the areas around McGill and Concordia offer some really cheap beer. Going to super cheap bars is a luxury of youth. Once you grow up, you’ll be tired of shitty tasting beer and hanging out around undergrads. So, while you’re still an acceptable age, head to these extremely cheap bars to grab an extremely cheap beer
Grumpy’s - 1214 Bishop
Aside from generally having a really great vibe and being a fun place to spend a night, you can get a pint for only $4 at Grumpy’s every Wednesday. They’ve also got live music, which, even if it sucks, will sound pretty good after $20 worth of those pints.
L’Gros Luxe - Multiple locations
L’Gros Luxe is a chain with a few locations across Montreal, and it’s actually really nice inside and has great food, so it isn’t a dive like other places on this list. But if you’re looking to drink a whole lot of beer for cheap, you can get 26 ounces of pretty good beer for only $7.
Biftek - 3702 Saint Laurent
Biftek is a little divey, which is absolutely no problem because every day until 8:30, you can be drinking pints for only $5 and eating their free popcorn as an added bonus.
Madhatter - 1208 Crescent
Madhatter has pitchers for only $12.50. It’s a weird little spot with a homey vibe, and the crowd is usually mostly really young, but those beer prices can’t really be beaten.
Foufounes Électriques - 87 Saint Catherine
Holy crap, they’ve got $1 Coors Lights on Friday nights. Granted, this is a little bit of a gimmick because the beers are small and you’ll have to pay to get in, but still, after a while, those $1 beers start paying for themselves
